As the booking was made with a travel agent they "own" the reservation until you make the first flight.

Do not use the word "change" when talking to them.
I think I will call Alitalia again just to try and get it fixed before turning up at the airport as I think buying new tickets is just absurd. If that doesn't work, I will rely on:

This is my first time posting on a forum and I have gotten far more information in a few minutes than my hours (literally HOURS) on the phone to Edreams and Alitalia!
