Changed account number after account hack...

Hi all,

Last week my IHG account was hacked. The hacker changed my email address and proceeded to use my points to reserve three nights in a Candlewood Suites in Houston. Luckily I saw the email address change advisory as soon as it arrived, contacted IHG, cancelled the room and had the points redeposited. The consultant recommended that I start a new account with my benefits transferred, and this is what I did.

Ten days on and several emails later and I'm frustrated! My elite rollover nights did not make the move, and all of my future stays show as estimated "0 points". I can't associate my new account number with any of the previously made bookings, and obviously my Accelerate progress is also gone. I'm concerned that I may lose benefits if the properties I am booked into are not aware of my status until I arrive. I also cannot manage any of my reservations on my phone.

Supposedly IHG are checking the status of my new account but say they cannot resolve any of the above, yet their poor security has likely contributed to this happening, as the only access I make to my account is my personal laptop, my personal work laptop and my mobile phone.

Does anyone have any ideas where to go with this?

As an aside, the hacker turned up at the Hotel and they allowed him to check in, pre authorising my credit card on file and not asking him for his own. A quick transatlantic phone call had him escorted from the building...
