Does anyone have experience of this or any other way to transfer Amex to Aeroplan?
Is this a U.S.-based Amex account? If so, Aeroplan is a transfer partner. If you are unable to effect the transfer on line, I suggest that you call Amex and see if they can process the transfer over the phone.

KF points can certainly be redeemed for travel on Air Canada and all other Star Alliance carriers. Are you sure that KF points can be transferred to Aeroplan? That would seem like a pretty big loophole to avoid expiration of KF points.
