With the Hawaii fares steadily going higher and higher and the Mexico fares staying about the same or less, Mexico has become my go-to destination for fun in the sun and relatively low cost hotels & food....although I do miss LIH

We chose GDL based on all the good things I've been reading about it's Historic City Center and the fact that the fares are consistently low (along with the super easy upgrade...probably the best in the system right now).
