JL has an angle-flat 787 subfleet that mostly serve Asian routes as well as NRT-YVR/SAN and KIX-LAX (last I checked).
Even this configuration will be perfectly comfortable for the daytime 6 hr. flight between BKK-NRT.
I'll be fine on the angled flat BKK//NRT. ANA used to use to do the same, but they've since gone all flat bed. I haven't flown JL in awhile, but if its anything like ANA, I can expect great food, great service, great lounges, and uncomfortably warm cabins.
Thanks everyone for the tips. I'll try AA 787/ORD outbound and JL return DFW.
