Blackstone to acquire Rio de Janeiro beachfront hotel
Blackstone has agreed to buy Rio de Janeiro, Brazil-based Windsor Atlantica Hotel. No financial terms were disclosed. Also, Blackstone has inked a management deal with Hilton for this property. According to the terms of the agreement, the hotel will be renamed Hilton Rio de Janeiro Copacabana following a period of transition.
Local media is reporting that the property will be rebranded in May.
It used to be a Le Méridien, which operated the property from 1975 through 2007. If I'm not mistaken, it used to be fully owned until the hotel chain was sold by Air France.
