A Fairfield Inn did it for me when I got first got the Marriott credit card a couple of years ago. I stayed on a Saturday night and when we got home I found the card in the mail. Called the billing person on Monday morning and she was able to switch it. Doesn't hurt to ask.

property dependant, but it generally is no problem at all. They will need you to fill out a 3rd party credit card authorization form, but that is no big deal. I have done it several times, I keep forgetting to update my profile credit card, to my points card and if I forget at check in I have changed it later.
havrnt tried at Hilton but did it at a Residence Inn and a FairField (as recently as Early this month).
I sent a email to the hotel and they send me a 3rd party payment form. I fill the form attach a copy of my DL, front and back of the new card (CVV striked off) and the hotel did the switch.
refund happened in 2-3 days.
