Focus more on getting from point A to point B safely.
I *am* focusing on getting myself AND my belongings from point A to point B safely, which means they travel near or on my person. I've dealt with too many ramp rats / TSA / whoever else stealing items from checked luggage over the years.

I am also worried about the safety of all those Lithium-based batteries bouncing around in the cargo hold, where there are NO ways to detect or put out such a fire until it's too late.

As far as using them in-flight, I could mostly care less. I do enjoy my music and I sometimes will work on my laptop during the flights. BUT, that's less of a concern to me than theft and the risk of a fire in the cargo hold.
