There is a free card, as in no annual fee, which can help in keeping points alive by credit card spend, however, it does not provide any status or benefits. I understand your comments regarding the devaluation and such, but it is the same in other programs as well. Depending on how many points you have, your travel/stay patterns, it might be worth keeping the card active. Just a suggestion. On side note, you can also send a message to customer service as well. Just mention the problem and ask them to check into it.
