Asking the hotel to change credit card AFTER checking out?

I am trying to figure out if it is possible to ask a Hilton hotel (Hampton Inn, if it matters) to switch my credit card AFTER checking out, i.e., to place the charges on a different credit card. The reason is that I just received an Amex Hilton card that I applied for earlier this month, and I need to meet the minimum spending requirement, as well as earning additional points (the card I used was not a Hilton cobranded card). The problem is that I already checked out of the hotel (the check-out date was last Friday, so three days ago). Is it possible that I call them now and ask them to move the charges to my new card? Has anyone done it before?
