"Take a photo and be prepared to MCOL" is basically the rule when presenting BA with any complaint these days.
I was bumped from 1A to 2A on SYD-SIN last year and was given the "faulty seat" spiel by the gate agent. That turned out to be off duty crew as well, but 1A-2A I'm not bothered; 1A to 2E and the CSD would have had quite the row on their hands.
