They need the lie flats on BOS-SFO to compete with DL and B6. LAX-ORD doesn't have the same lie-flat competition.
not sure how that is going to work out. B6 offers a seat that is 2" wider in Y than UA, DL offers the same sized seat or one that is 1" wider and on a nice 757 with AVOD. 6.5 hours on the UA HD Y is a great way to permanent turn people off on a highly competitive route.
