I grew up with this. It's really a sweet sauce and not spicy hot at all, but it goes well with oyster pancakes, scallion pancakes, steamed glutinous rice, I can go on.

Do you live in a U.S. locale without much of an Asian community? Even cities like Wichita have Asian markets that sell this and the aforementioned "bullhead sauce" (yum too!).
