I really don't understand what the big deal about going 10 abreast is ? It'll have such a minimal impact when you consider the following:
- A350 fleets are staying at 9 abreast
- 777-9 although at 10 abreast will be more comfortable and closer to 744 Y width
- 10 abreast on regional flights is fine when you consider the shorter flight times AND that it could help reduce fares.
- A330s will not be reconfigured
Reconfigurations aren't scheduled to begin until 2018 with the regional birds likely getting refitted first and by the time the 77Ws start operating at 10 abreast many routes will have become A350 and the 779 will be entering the fleet shortly taking over the popular routes (JFK,LHR,YVR).
