By default, rebate is AFTER a valid transaction has happened.
Hence you need to have enough miles in the account before the transaction, i.e. the redemption of an award would even happen.
Such a simple and basic concept.
BTW, the rebate only is instant since last year. Before that it took a week or more before the rebate posted to the account.
