In the US promotional balance transfer and purchase balances are separate however, be aware that any time you carry a balance (whether a balance transfer is involved or not) you will lose the grace period on new purchases. Those transactions will immediately begin to accrue interest. If you're going to take advantage of a 0% balance transfer offer then don't use the card for anything else.
