What you say implies that you were likely not on a NEV4, because it is not really slanted.
Only the back of the seat makes a slight angle with the rest of the seat which is flat and horizontal, a bit like when you have a pillow behind your shoulders in a bed.
NEV4 is usually praised for the comfort on night flights because it is quite good for sleeping (no sliding down).
The OP will likely not experience the same sliding down as you did.
