Ever since Westin Lagunamar opened, I have wondered why people would want to stay at the old Westin. You couldn't pay me to waste a day in Cancun there. Westin Lagunamar is just so much nicer, the property is top notch. I'm always surprised to hear that the old Westin is still there. I feel sorry for the staff and for people who get stuck there without knowing better. It is SO not what a Westin Resort should be. This is one instance where the best bet is to just sell or close. The property needs to be razed. It's sad, but true.
I'm surprised that Starwood allows this place to exist under their umbrella. Either dump it or raze it and make it better. It's not fair to the staff or the people who pay money to stay at a Westin Resort. It's gone on for too long.
Spent a few days here and at the Lagunamar. This resort looks aged, at the very edge of the hotel zone, but can't complain about the value and free breakfast and appetizers for me and the family. The Lagunamar location can't be beat, much newer, right across from the mall and everything but the cost in points for that place is pretty crazy.
Give a choice my whole family said we'd rather stay at the Westin and take the bus, I taught the family well, be smart value shoppers
