Just a quick note about using Chase UR points for a hotel. You will be at the bottom of the totem pole if there are any problems. Not only will you have booked it through the normal third party but with Chase you will have a fourth party. In my case Chase used Priceline to get my room and when the hotel failed me, everyone just pointed fingers at each other for the blame and resolution. I would hate to be in a complicated location like Japan with that kind of issue. I would suggest using the points for the flights so you get the bonus while having a very manageable reservation at the airline. Primarily my point is that Chase Ultimate Rewards will not help you if there are problems with the hotel.
