4am intruder in my room, PHX Airport Marriott

I will try to make this to the point. I am staying at Marriott PHX Airport. I checked in yesterday (3/12) after a long day of travel and DST 2 hour time change, I am really tired and retire to bed at 9PM (I travelled from Texas so its 11PM for me). I am staying in a room that has 2 doors. One is the normal/front door and another to the side. At 4AM I get up to some noise and see a guy standing 2 feet away from me and the side door is open. I am a big guy (6ft, 250lbs) and I am trying to figure out what is going on. The gentlemen appears to be wearing PJ and I am trying to grasp the situation. He then tells me is security guard and I can call the front desk to confirm and he is leaving. I didnt say anything to him and before I know, he has gone back from the side door. He didnt lock the door so as soon as he is gone, I get up, lock the door (dead-bolt) and called front desk. I am a little ticked off so the conversation goes like,

Me = What time is it?
Clerk = 4:22
Me = AM or PM?
Clerk = AM
Me = Why r ppl walking in my room?
Clerk = I dont know
Me = Have ur GM call me tomr morning

and I hang up. Its 6AM and I get up. I had a big day ahead starting with meetings at 7:30AM and I still had work to do. I am focused on doing some work/getting ready and go to work. I come back at 5PM and look for my the guy who usually checks me in (Michael) and he's not there. I go back to the room, take a little nap and then as I am leaving for dinner, I see Michael so decide to talk to him.

Before I tell u about my conversation, here is my assessment of the situation of what happened. Something was wrong in my room or next to room, the hotel staff may have miscalculated that the room I am in is empty; they probably tried to get thru the front door but since I latched it, they tried to enter from the side door but upon finding me they called it quits. No one has talked to me yet and the guy I saw was apologetic so nothing to worry about.

Back to me talking to the Michael. I tell him what happened and he says, "Yea, there was an incident. One of the security guards wasn't supposed to be here and we had to call law enforcement to take care of the situation. I dont know the details but the guy was arrested". I am listening this and getting more upset. I tell him that guy was in my room and Michael offers me points/coupon for food. I tell him its not abt points/coupon but this is pretty messed up. I tell him I come to Marriott because of some given things, such as safety and comfort. I can tolerate the hotel being not comfortable but safety is a little tricky to ignore. I ask him, how come no one reached out to me and he said they should have. He said he would call his boss. He is talking in a low voice so others dont hear our conversation so rather then making a scene, I walk out to get dinner. He calls me at dinner and tells me he talked to his boss and she tried to reach me at the same # he called me but could not get thru. Beats me why I dont have any missed calls or voicemails from his boss.

Anyways, I get back after dinner and Michael comes up so I can file a report. I show him where this security guard came from and was standing and he is appalled to know that he was in the room inside the room and 2 feet away from where I was sleeping with no idea how long he was there. I tell him that I dont want to make it sound like I am paranoid but but I am sleeping, the guy could have hit me or whatever. No one knew he was here in the hotel either; this is not exactly Okay at any level.

Either way, I find this really disturbing. Once I called the front desk at 4AM and they got the guy arrested, I would have expected someone to come up and check on me; explain what happened and tell me how they are going to make sure I am safe. They did none of that. I tried to find another hotel for tonight and rest of my stay in PHX but its spring training here so hotels are all booked. I am a little spooked about this all but am at a loss of what more I can do or say.

I also have some electronics that are missing which I wrote on the incident report to Marriott.

The point of sharing this post is partly to make others aware of this situation and also partly to know what my options are for my items that are missing.

I am hoping my post is clear enough to make sense of what happened. If not, I can try to clarify but I am still a bit shaken on what happened, especially after finding out later in the day how events played out and how the management at this property did not do anything to acknowledge what happened or reach out to me.
