We aren't wanting to use cold hard cash
We have a ton of MR points for example, which only really have value at or above a cent when you transfer them to an airline partner. If you transfer them to a domestic airline program, you pay a 0.06 cent fee. By using AeroPlan we get 1:1 transfer and avoid the fee, and avoid paying with cash.
