You need to read the fine print on your reservation. As a hotel owner, the hotel does have the right to charge you for damages. We call and send out pictures just for the PR side (to avoid you complaint) - but do not need to. If you sue, etc you will probably not win and will end up with the court charges and quite possibly be banned from the hotel chain
Hotels generally do not have the right to charge a customer for fictitious damages or damages made by unrelated parties to the customer charged for the hotel's claimed damages.
