That may be true, but this is also an informational board and it is helpful for others. The complaint is pretty routine, e.g. "I got charged for something I did not authorize."
In the end, it turns out to be something which the customer did not want to pay for such as room damage but which he most certainly did authorize.
It is helpful for people here to here the other side of the coin. There is a reason why properties which used to require a deposit back in the old days, simply take a CC these days.
The flip side is that just like a rental car, if there is damge to your room on arrival, make certain that you document it for the property so that it can't be charged to you later.
