I'd agree with others, do both the Pullman and Sofitel. That I should what I normally do. Pullman is close enough to the action but not right in the middle of Kuta. And it's directly across the road from the beach. In fact, you can book an ocean view room if you want. The hotel is like an oasis in the middle of chaos so to speak. It's also great if you want to walk down the road for $10 massages, cheap food and shopping.

Sofitel is more secluded, and luxurious. It's a stunning resort, also on the beach, but not really surf. But there's not much else around it unless you want to get a taxi/Uber.

Both are great, but different, so I'd try both out.
