I'm on CX748 in J in September JNB-HKG. Arrives according to my eticket at 0710 (FlightAware has it scheduled at 0700 currently). I need to get to PEK as quickly as possible after landing. Looking to book a second ticket.
The flight that works best, KA0900, would be one that departs at 0800. FlightAware seems to suggest it has a good on-time record. My understanding is HKG minimum cxn time is 1hr but CX will often make 50 minutes bookable. The second flight would be in F.
If I book this as a separate ticket and my inbound flight is late, would CX rebook me for a later KA or CX flight or would I be SOL?
My reading of the Cathay conditions of carriage is that you will be reaccommodated. Conditions are here (see section 10.2):

A connecting flight is defined:
“CONNECTING FLIGHT” means a subsequent flight providing onward travel on
the same ticket, on a different ticket or on a conjunction ticket.
