Flight Connections on Separate Tickets

Hi there,

I have two separate tickets on British Airways - DUB-LHR and LHR-PHX. I was wondering if it might be possible to have 1) baggage checked from DUB through to PHX and 2) if I could avail of the "Flight Connections" airside-to-airside transfer. I believe I arrive in Terminal 3 and have to fly out of Terminal 5.

There are almost 6 hours between my flights and I left myself time to do a transfer - immigration, baggage claim, checkin, etc. However, reading on the fora, skipping it all seems to be a possibility so long as DUB staff checks in my luggage to PHX and gives me a boarding pass for the second flight on a separate ticket.

My initial understanding was that I'd definitely have to go through immigration and customs, so I wanted to check with you folks here. Is this possible?
