It is unlikely this would work. When booking a full refundable rate through Chase it specifically states any cancellations made by calling the hotel directly would result in no points being refunded. I can't imagine any reason why a rate that is already nonrefundable would be any different.
Nonrefundable rates are cheaper for a reason and that is the risk you take if you're wanting to save a few bucks. If you're going to book a nonrefundable rate, you better make sure your plans are set in stone.
Not saying I wouldn't make the call and try. You'd have nothing to lose by trying, but I wouldn't have high expectations.
