I'll give credit to United for seeming to make available for (free) download the various plugins. On my Mac the challenge was making sure Safari would run Adobe Flash, which required some settings tweaks that the United troubleshooting guide doesn't cover.
Meanwhile, the buffering was horrid - I kept getting audio breakups from fractional second hiccups. Really annoying and no apparent workaround (as on Youtube, where you can pause and let the video load).
Try using another browser. Safari on the Mac didn't work for me either with constant buffering but Firefox worked just fine.
