With regard to chattiness... yes that should be toned down. But I find that putting a pair of comfortable your phones on does the trick.

Chatting at a reasonable level is fine, but some FAs (and passengers) don't know what an "inside voice" is. When you're in a customer-facing position, you need to have some consideration for those customers.
