I can't comment on the lounges in FRA, although usually the food at the Maple Leaf lounge in satellite B is better than the Senator lounges. I only connect at FRA on short connections, so I haven't been able to spend lots of time in either lounges, but I found the Maple Leaf lounge to be quite nice.
ya i'm comfortable doing 30 hour journeys in y only, and i manage to get the odd trip in business which is obviously i'm very comfortable in. with this particular trip (africa II-usa), ua saver business is 80k while ua saver first is 130k. so 50k, or 2 roundtrip economy tickets within usa+canada, 3 one way overseas upgrades from full fare economy, etc. so, ya. i'm points middle class (not rich, not poor lol) so ya, i'm leaning towards no.
with regards to lounge, i really don't care. as long as there's self pour whiskey, wifi, good snacks, and space to spread out i'm happy. also i'm surprised a mll is better than any other lounge; they're becoming more and more mediocre in canada+usa, and the lhr mll is by far the least best of the various lounges in t2. i loved the senator lounge in fra Z (or whatever the new terminal is), although that curry is bland and the wraps basic, the breakfast was nice. thanks for the tip, i'll check it out.
