This is actually NOT true as I just found out the hard way on an ATL to NRT flight. [...] I was told that:
If you are not CURRENTLY a Diamond on the day of the flight you will NOT be added to the upgrade wait list.
Maybe it should say, you're _supposed_ to appear on the upgrade list
I had an ATL GA try to tell me that GUCs did not carry over to the upgrade list on day of travel. I thanked him for his time and called the Diamond line (they had to get a supervisor to override, as the flight was under airport control at that point).
So they are known to make stuff up.
