Well, mom decided to call relatives and they have offered to pick her up and she'll hang with them for the day and evening. I'll meet up with them at check in...

This has been a most enlightening thread. I will definitely check out the hotels during my stay at the airport. I checked the price on a day room at the hilton. Yikes -- over 300 GBP.
