i was thinking the same thing, but her assistant seem VERY leery of even putting my name on the reservation as a second guest, much less allowing me to have anything to do with the reservation itself.

Dr. HFH, i wish they knew me...but they don't, and there don't appear to be any special rates for my platinum goodness!

i learned today that she's apparently booked for four of the nights on an unchangeable rate in a SINGLE room, so things are feeling less optimistic all-around. i still feel i could show up with her at check-in and likely finagle at least a room with two beds, but i really don't know my way around japan and japanese hotels...dunno.
