Have any of you flown Iberia Express or Air Nostrum lately? For me they have the best IFE because there are no screens and they stream easily to your personal device over WiFi without any crazy setups or hoops that users must jump through. I was watching their stream of the BBC's Sherlock on my 13" Mac Air and the image quality was far better than most any in-seat monitor in the sky. And I can hold my device in my hands, move it around, set it on the tray, etc. I think that smart airlines will not waste another dime on in-seat monitors.
For short flights, I definitely agree. But I don't want to stare at my iPad for a 16 hour flight in First Class.
