Not sure I get SJC-LAX, as there is already lots of competition, served by partner AA.

Nerd bird makes PERFECT sense - AA abandoned the route when it moved to the cornerstone strategy (all flights to or from a major hub), provides competition on another otherwise exclusive WN route. Suggests AS / OO will continue to take WN head on - a welcome strategy.
