Assuming you arrive early morning (from LAX?), there are several flights over the day PPT-BOB. I had it on a separate ticket but spent the first day in Papeete.
PPT is different from a "regular" airport and things can go easier (slower). I had a baggage issue there so it took additional time to open a claim, etc.
I'd ask VT for flexibility options - they could probably put you on an earlier/later flight depending on space available.
