Because if I want to eat one entrée and husband wants to eat soup as his entrée we eat at the same time. I don't want to sit there and watch him eat his soup.
They also don't bring rice or noodles with the main meal. I've had it arrive after we have finished our mains.
For the appetizer just ask, the traditional Chinese starter is just the soup with the others after.
For the rice and noodles this is just poor service as even the country restaurants know to do this.
