Anyone taken a Bugaboo Bee to the gate

Based on BA website, the allowable dimensions for taking a stroller to the gate are 117cm x 38cm x 38cm. This is probably not quite enough for a Bugaboo Bee (which we took on Virgin last year, dropped at the gate without an issue), has anyone managed to take one?

I am assuming it will be down the check-in staff, if they give you a tag then you will probably be OK when you get to the gate? Don't want to be stuck carrying a baby for 3 hours, can't even use the lounge as can only take one guest and there are 2 other kids as well as the baby!

Last time we flew BA, we had a fully collapsible stroller so wasn't an issue, but unfortunately that was stolen and we bough the Bugaboo when the new baby was born. Don't really want to buy a new stroller just because the current one is about an inch too big for BA (but OK for Virgin...).
