Unlikely, but YMMV. Whenever I show up at a specific SPG hotel where they know me well as a frequent guest, but it's booked in the name of my partner for promo reasons, etc.... no benefits other than occasionally a room upgrade.
Japan is more status-conscious though, so if you check in together you could always DKYWIA in a polite way...
