Thanks for the environment info
Hi folks,
Really appreciate your contributions and observations on environmental impact.
Saw a guy from a RWV standing on top a coral column yesterday, just to clean his mask... Seriously doubt if he was qualified to make an accurate assessment if it was already dead or not. Either way it saddened me, and after speaking with others on things they've seen/heard, it sounds like there's a lot of ignorance and a general lack of respect.
One suggestion that deserves submission is for the island host to enquire if guest likes snorkeling, and to point them in the direction of an educational flyer/leaflet/card on safety and how to carefully snorkel to not further damage the reef.
And yes being honest, it doesn't sit easy with me seeing the changes underway, also knowing that just by taking flights to visit here we are part of the problem and not the solution. I had also heard temps of 33C for the water in 2016.
We're back seeing relatives in Oz next year, will be taking a road trip to the Ningaloo reef, not been there for approx 10 years so will be interesting to see how its also changed.
I do still have more pics to post, including a few very yellow OSL, will get round to uploading them.
Thanks again for the thoughtful comments,
SR
ps woke early, now off to take pics of another sunrise
