sometimes, I really hate flying
This was one of them.
My only go around was on an Icelandair 757 on final approach into KEF. I would guess that we were a few hundred metres from touchdown when the aircraft pitched violently from side to side (windshear). Engines roared back to life and we went around to try again on a different runway. I read later that FI was one of the first to introduce windshear detectors.
The pilot by the way was as cool as a cucumber afterwards telling us what all happened. Heckuva way to wake up in the morning (arrival time was about 6:30 a.m.
Found out later that Mrs. CL stuffed a rosary in my suit pocket for the flight.
OT - Is there a patron saint for flying or flyers?
