So is this confirmed? I mean, if you have no stopover, any upgrade will be for all segments, i.e. KUL-IST-Europe rather than for the longhaul flight only? If true and an upgrade for e.g. IST-CPH is included, it makes the 45,000 points used (or 90,000 points for a return ticket) very good value IMO.
Does it make any difference whether the upgrade is processed in advance or at check-in?
When I inquired about upgrade at the transfer desk at KUL last week, I didn't get the impression that any upgrade would include the IST-Europe leg as well (but admittedly I didn't ask this Q).
