Is this all on one ticket? How long is your layover at JFK?

If it is all on one ticket, and your layover is less than 12 hours, then yes AA will tag your bags all the way through and transfer the bags for you at JFK.

If it isn't on one ticket or the layover is greater than 12 hours, then AA will not check the bags through and you will have to collect the bags at JFK, and recheck them with BA yourself.
