I have taken the 9am flight from LHR a number of times and have some differing experiences.

Regarding the chauffeur - you cannot choose the pickup time when you go online and book. The chauffeur company will call you at least the day before you fly to confirm, and you might wish to negotiate the pickup time depending on where you live...i have been offered an 0530 pickup but i well know that a 0630 pickup will get me to LHR by 0715, so i ask for 0630 and have never been refused. Never had an issue with LHR pickups but yes go and book it. Have had issues when i make changes within a week of travelling and these clearly havent been communicated to the taxi company, so keep that in mind.

Regarding the LHR lounge - it is quite nice by global standards, well appointed and cosy, and has some a la carte breakfast choices not just a buffet. So i have a cooked breakfast option in the lounge instead of eating at home.

On board, it isnt a traditional two meal service like you are used to on BA. There is a choice of menu items ranging from breakfast-type options to a steak sandwich, and, a separate page with a more traditional meal menu layout with choices for each course. So what i do is order something like a snack to be delivered in an hour or so after take off, and pick my main meal choices for delivery about 1pm UK time. I have never felt pressured to eat at any other time that when i want to , and the crew usually check that i am ready to eat as planned before they prepare it.

All of which, combined with an a380 or 787, knocks an overpriced BA flight in a ying-yang seat into a cocked hat. Enjoy your trip.
