Lightbulb It's about making money, and not about you...

What you are seeing is very common: there are MANY hotels that require two, or sometimes even three, night stays during weekends, events, etc. The only difference here is you are seeing it reflected on the Internet, and it's a Hilton property. In northern California, for instance, Monterey hotels will often require two nights stay during weekends - or three during an event like the Concours de Elegance or major races at Laguna Seca. In Boston, it's probably the same during Marathon weekend, right?

The logic is quite easy to see: the hospitality industry is about making money, and they know they will probably be sold out with guaranteed stays of two or three days, so they are not at all interested in filling a room for one night that may possibly go vacant the second night.

If you really want to go, you can always call the hotel, state your status, frequent guest at that hotel experience, etc. etc. and ask them to make an exception (but be prepared to hear the dreaded "n" word.) Or, if you really, really want to go, spend the bucks for two nights and either spend two nights, or spend one night for the price of two.

Good luck.

Now I know the hotel would prefer that I stay 2 nights, but why would they turn away the one night business?

Only 1% of travelers would go to the trouble of checking the 2 night stay, booking that, and then changing it to a 1 night stay on check in.

Just don't understand the logic in why they do this and turn away that 1 night stay?
