If I was the CSR, I definitely would have reported the NRSA. Mainly due to the fact that he was talking loud enough to disturb other passengers and causing a scene.
With antics like that, it is possible the company can decide that employee travel is a too much of a liability and cancel flight benefits for everyone. I am not about to lose my benefits due to the bad behavior of another employee.
When I am NRSA, I try to blend in as well as possible. I use the Kiosk and do not huddle around the gate agents. I am very happy with any seat. Middle in the back, next to the lav is OK with me. At least I made it on the plane.
I think you might have misread the original post. I don't think the irate person was an employee traveling SA, but rather a revenue passenger flying standby. (Who knows why? Maybe trying to catch an earlier flight?)
