Ok, here's the deal: You CANNOT call Alaska or American and transfer mileage from one to the other, or vice-versa. The literature from both programs clearly outlines this.

HOWEVER...if you go to the Points.com website, you can have miles exchanged from one to the other. The exchange rate is their "cost" of doing business, though (they actually take your miles out of airline "A" and buy some for you at airline "B", the miles don't actually "transfer" per se).
Typically, this rate of exchange is 1 mile to the new airline for every 10 miles taken from the old one. NOT a good deal by any means. But once again, technically, you're not transferring miles.
