I was treated very well with a weather-related cancellation during one of the winter storms.
The focus of my comp request wasn't the cancellation itself. Instead, I noted the timing of it which created difficulty rebooking (cxl was past midnight local EST for next afternoon flight); insane hold time to discuss rebooking (> 90 minutes) and the impracticabilty of the solution offered when I did finally get through (2 day delay). I ended up booking on a different airline on the original date of travel.
As requested, AS granted original routing credit, a small monetary credit and, as expected, a refund of fare and recrediting of the GGU I had used at time of booking.
