Back to the OP: Overhead bin space is the number one reason for getting on board as soon as possible.

Another reason is the event they have assigned two people to one seat. The person there first usually has dibs, while they find another seat for the second one there. The second one there has to stand around and wait for it to be sorted out while I am comfy in the disputed seat.
