I suppose there is some purpose in looking at SF and LA traffic in a general sense, but it's usually far more important to individuals, whether locals or visitors, to consider congestion on their particular routes. As discussed above, the 405 near LAX is really bad, really often. But other journeys in LA aren't that bad. Often surface streets are better than freeways.
